Tickets are for a specific date and train ride time. A limited number of guests are admitted nightly, so advance tickets are strongly recommended. Adults: $44, Children (age 3-12): $38, Children 2 and under: Free

Enjoy thousands of dazzling Christmas lights and scenes, as you ride in an open-air train car pulled by one of our historic narrow-gauge steam locomotives. The train runs every 40 minutes beginning at 5:30 p.m.

The Tweetsie Christmas event will be held on Friday, Saturday, and on select weekday evenings from November 13 - December 31. The hours are 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

  • Managing reduced park capacity through an online reservation system.
  • Requiring mask or face coverings to be worn by all employees and guests, over age 5, unless exempt under NC Executive Order 169.
  • Using digital maps and menus, downloadable by scanning a QR code.
  • Adjusting ride seating to comply with physical distancing.
  • Placing acrylic/plexiglass or other types of barriers between guests and staff making transactions.
  • Removing self-serve condiments and utensils from public access (guests must ask a cashier or server)
  • Enhancing already stringent cleaning protocols and treating rides and high touch areas with an antimicrobial solution that is effective in killing viruses, mold, fungus, and bacteria content.
  • Conducting employee temperature screenings and health surveys, prior to reporting to work areas.

You will enjoy a dazzling holiday light display and holiday music during a 3-mile train ride through the Blue Ridge Mountains in an open-air train car pulled by a historic narrow-gauge steam locomotive. Dress warm!

Visit Santa in his Gingerbread House, spin through the night on classic amusement rides, warm up to a campfire and toast s'mores at the Hacienda, enjoy the lights on Main Street and the Christmas trees, and visit the shops. Due to health and safety restrictions, the Snowglobes and Tweetsie Christmas Palace Show will not be available this year.

Tickets will be on sale on October 13th and can be purchased online or by phone at 1-877-TWEETSIE (1-877-893-3874). Please note there is a $2.00 per ticket processing fee for tickets purchased by phone. (This fee is waived for Season Pass Holders and Groups)

Advance tickets are required due to reduced park capacity. We anticipate that many nights will be sold out well in advance and that no tickets will be available at the door on the night of the event. We strongly recommend that you purchase your tickets in advance in order to assure entry.

When you purchase a ticket to Tweetsie Christmas, you will select a specific night and train ride time. Trains depart each evening of the event at the following times:

5:30, 6:10, 6:50, 7:30, 8:10, and 8:50 p.m.​

Absolutely! The Park opens at 5:00 p.m. for the Tweetsie Christmas event, and there will be plenty of activities to enjoy before your train ride and throughout the evening.

Yes, for 2020, all Season Pass Holders receive one admission and train ride to Tweetsie Christmas for free!

There are no discounts or group rates for this special event.

Tickets may be refunded or exchanged at least 48 hours prior to the event for another night as long as the date on your ticket has not expired and the night you want is still available. There is a $5 per ticket fee for refunds and a $10 fee per order for ticket exchange.

There are no assigned seats or train cars, only assigned train ride times. Seating is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The capacity on the open-air cars has been reduced to allow for proper physical distancing between families and groups.

If you would like to sit together, you should line up 20 minutes before your train time and check-in with the train car attendant; and we will do our best to accommodate your group.

All the train cars are open-air excursion cars, so the ride can be quite brisk. Please check the weather forecast and dress appropriately.

One of our historic narrow gauge steam locomotives, No. 12 or 190, will be pulling the train.

Yes, families and friends will be able to tour Santa’s Gingerbread House and visit with Santa. Groups will be properly socially distanced and a protective plexiglass barrier will be between guests and Santa at all times. Guests will be able to speak with and pose for a photo (in front of the plexiglass) with Santa. Children are encouraged to bring a letter to Santa to place in the mailbox.

After Christmas Santa retires to the North Pole for some much-needed rest. He turns the gingerbread house back over to Mr. & Mrs. Gingerbread who will be available for photos with guests.

Tweetsie Railroad will only be open only in the evening for Tweetsie Christmas.

Yes, you are welcome to take photos aboard the train, and at various photo opportunities throughout the Park.

This refers to personal, noncommercial photography only. Photos taken at Tweetsie Railroad are not to be used for commercial purposes without prior written consent from the Marketing Department.

Restrooms with changing stations are available on Main Street and the Hacienda. There are no restrooms or diaper changing facilities on the train.

Due to safety regulations, strollers are not allowed on the train. Strollers can be left safely at the train boarding area on Main Street.

The train has one wheelchair-accessible train car. If you or someone in your group needs to utilize this car please line up 20 minutes in advance of your scheduled train ride time and notify the car attendant.

Yes, you can enjoy the taste of the holidays with specialty fudge, s’mores, and hot food items in the Cantina and Tweetsie Palace.

Alcoholic beverages are not permitted on the premises of Tweetsie Railroad.

We allow our guests to bring in outside food. We do not allow glass containers or alcohol on the premises of Tweetsie Railroad. During your visit, allergy menus are available for download by scanning a QR code.

Winter wind, rain, and other adverse conditions are possible. Please check weather conditions prior to your visit and dress accordingly. Portions of the event will take place outside, so if it is raining or snowing please bring appropriate outerwear. Tweetsie Christmas will operate as scheduled unless noted on our website: www.tweetsie.com

Tweetsie Railroad has plenty of free parking on-site.

Boone and Blowing Rock offer a variety of lodging options. The holidays are a very busy time in the mountains and we recommend that you make reservations in advance.
